BLUES AT THE FARM

Back in 1999, four guys, Namely ROY, CHRIS, ED & MARK got a bit miffed with no Blues Gigs on A Saturday afternoon because of Venue Closures ... ie: Towngate Theatre & Castlemayne Pub.

SO!!
They put their heads together, found a Venue (Fortune of War Pub in Laindon) & formed "Blues at The Fortune". After 6 months or so AL joined the crew & although he had moved to Wales, he travelled back every Saturday to help out.  Eventually he moved back to Essex, which made it easier to get the jobs done. ROB continued with the WebSite until he decided to move to Spain.  As the workload became greater & ROY & Co were getting old & decrepit, COLIN & DEL agreed to assist and are now part of the furniture.

Without the extra help from these guys, it was surefire that BATF would have perished.

Blues at The Fortune ran for 3 years, with numerous High Class Blues Bands passing through & was highly successful until The Fortune of War Pub had to close.

Panic sets in ...... No Venue, ROB had left the crew, AL, COLIN & DEL chipping in, then. luckily, DAVE at Barleylands Sports & Leisure Club offered the premises on a Saturday Afternoon & all was well.

The Club was re-named "Blues at The Farm" & has been running fluently ever since.
That was 5 years ago & BATF has just got better, with a Massive Array of Top Bands appearing each week.
An Added Bonus was that the Booze is Better & Cheaper, Excellent Food on tap & a Very Congenial Atmosphere.

Jam Days were introduced with proceeds going to the Childrens Wards at Basildon Hospital.
Next Jam Day is 29th March 2008 ..... Well worth a visit.
Excellent Evening Gigs came in, but unfortunately, poorly attended for some reason, so they were discontinued.

You never know whats going to happen on Saturday Afternoons, as very often, Members of other Bands just pop in & join in with the Fun on Stage.

And there you have it!!
